Lawn care for the new millennium...

                                             ...on the cutting edge!

Aeration

One of the best things you can do for your lawn is to aerate it on a regular basis. Lawn aeration is best done in the spring or fall, and usually takes place once or twice per year, depending on the need.

Aeration is a very important component in a healthy lawn. Aeration allows water, air and nutrients to reach the root system of your lawn. This allows for a better exchange of nutrients, which promotes healthier grass and a more rich, lush lawn.  Additionally, it also provides a means to hold new seed in place. The application of new grass seed or over seeding when those holes are new, allows a certain percentage of the seed to fall into those holes. When the lawn is irrigated either by hose or rain, water then also falls into the hole thereby giving the seed or seeds a cup of water and soil to germinate in. Over time, the “plugs” of earth that were removed from those holes begin to erode and slowly fill the holes back up, leaving the germinated seed, deeply planted and growing heartily.

If you haven't aerated your lawn in a while, your soil is probably highly compacted. Compacted soil hinders root penetration and development making the lawn more susceptible to damage through drought, disease, or insects.

The aeration process is simple. We use a specifically designed aeration machine that digs evenly spaced holes in your lawn. The dirt and thatch that are removed are then deposited on the surface. This will decompose back into the soil in about a week, recycling the nutrients into the lawn. Meanwhile all those good things like air, water, and fertilizer can get down to the roots of your grass, strengthening your lawn and stimulating root growth.

Core aeration is also a great water saver, as it allows more water to be absorbed directly into the soil, rather than running off the surface.
